On Tuesday we spent the day with Jaymie from HappyFabric for a collaborative craft project. HappyFabric are a local company to Cosy Owl. They specialise in custom transfers, heat transfer and self-adhesive vinyl. Not only this, they stock cutting machines and heat presses which means their customers can personalise their own products at home. HappyFabric are full of colour and inspiration, with project ideas and guides galore, just like Cosy Owl! We knew this would be the perfect collaboration as self-adhesive vinyl can be applied to glass containers and bottles.
Let’s take you through our day, so you can see what we got up to.
Candle Making
We started off in the kitchen, to teach Jaymie the basics of candle making using our beginners candle making kits. This was Jaymie’s first time making a candle and she got stuck into every step! The great thing about our kits is that the full instructions are included and the ingredients are pre-weighed, which makes the candle making process as simple and enjoyable as possible for first time crafters.
We chose our gingerbread candle making kit for this demonstration as it smells divine for this time of the year. This fragrance oil oozes festive notes including gingerbread, cinnamon stick, brown sugar and rich vanilla.
Here’s behind the scenes of us melting, pouring and wicking our candles. We used our double boiler and a few candle making extras such as a jug, thermometer, wick centring tools and glue dots which are available as an optional add-on when purchasing a kit. As you can see a lot of fun was had, it’s a great project for a chilled afternoon with friends. A catch up, craft session and a coffee is the perfect combination.

Decorating Glasses
Whilst our gingerbread candles were setting, we visited HappyFabric HQ which was super colourful, with vinyl rolls from floor to ceiling. We brought along some of our glass containers and some pre-made cinnamon stick scented candles made from our candle kit. Jaymie handed us a selection of their self-adhesive vinyl to experiment with and decorate the outer glasses. Between us, we were let loose with creating fun, festive designs. We had a mix of hand drawn designs which their silhouette cutter worked its magic, cutting away at the vinyl. The detailed designs were transferred to the glasses using their transfer tape and squeegee to press the vinyl down. Peeling the tape away to leave the finished design attached was so satisfying! We love the ‘Happy & Cosy’ design that Jaymie came up with to unite us both.
What a great way to up-cycle glasses and reuse them after the candle has been finished with too. Can you imagine washing out our larger glasses and reusing them as plant pots or house hold storage? You could then add your own slogan or design to transform it!
Speaking of up-cycling, we personalised our classic jar to store wax melts inside and one of our candle tins to store a homemade soap. How cute do they look? It’s a great way of storing them without unnecessary packaging and keeping them clean and dust free at the same time!
Next, it was time to set up our cosy area with our candles and Jaymie’s heat transfer vinyl projects, including a cushion and blanket, to finish off the cosy feel.
Here are the finished results! As you can see we had a little visit from Jaymie’s cat Mike who wanted to join in on our photoshoot.
