Our  Oud perfume oil  has been specially formulated to release an intoxicating musky fragrance normally derived from the resin of the tropical Agarwood tree. One of the most expensive and sought-after perfumes in the world, it is used in many religious ceremonies in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, China, Japan, and India. This intriguing fragrance opens with  citrus, juniper berries, blackcurrant, plum, and cherry  with hints of pine leading to a heart of  rose, jasmine, and ylang-ylang,  supported by warming spices resting on an intense base of precious woods , oud, patchouli, amber, and musk.

Oud comes from the wood of the tropical agarwood tree (Aquilaria), a genus that includes 15 different species. The tree is believed to have originated in the Assam region of India and then spread to populate Bangladesh and much of Southeast Asia. This unique fragrance is actually created when an agarwood tree is infected by a parasitic fungus. It is the tree’s response to this fungus that produces this highly fragrant oil and is therefore extremely rare, with only about 2% of all agarwood trees producing the resin.

Our Oud perfume oil is a unique and rich blend that will fill your room with exoticism and transport you in a way that only perfume can.

All our fragrance oils are exclusive to Cosy Owl and have been developed by our experts for superior candle fragrance and optimized for use with our wax. Our oils are 100% concentrated and fully compatible with all our waxes.

This scented oil does not contain palm oil.

How much perfume should I add?

All our fragrances are high-quality and specially formulated for excellent fragrance throw, which generally means less is more. The amount to add is a little complex, and we’ve developed a guide to give you more details here. As a general rule, starting with 5-8% is a good idea, and up to 10% for weaker fragrances should give you more than enough scent. It’s always best to experiment with each fragrance and wax combination, starting small and increasing gradually. As long as you follow the guide and observe the flash point, you’ll achieve beautifully scented candles with a little practice. Generally, you should never use more than 12% fragrance, as the candle will literally start to sweat or leach the scent.

All perfumed oils have what is called a flash point – the temperature at which the oil will begin to burn and the fragrance will be released.

The  flash point for Oud is 70°C . For more information on flash points, follow this link:  https://www.cosyowl.com/guides/how-to-use-fragrance-oils/

Cruelty-free

Ethical sourcing is of paramount importance to us, and we are very proud to say that all fragrance oils supplied by Cozy Owl, and their raw materials, are cruelty-free and absolutely no animal or human testing takes place. We understand, however, that there may be some confusion because the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) contain toxicity values for rats and rabbits. This particular section refers to the LD50 (toxicity) of specific ingredients that are required for other industries (such as for use in food), and it is mandatory that we include them where available. All animal testing data is based on tests that were not conducted or sanctioned by us or our suppliers. In some cases, these tests were mandated by a government agency or conducted decades ago, and categorically, no testing has been carried out for the use of these ingredients in the products we supply.

We advise all customers to test fragrances with our 10ml tester bottles before ordering larger sizes or quantities, in the unlikely event that you are dissatisfied with a fragrance oil. Please see our  Delivery & Returns  page for full terms and conditions.

*This fragrance contains natural elements (essential oils, extracts, resins, isolates) but is not entirely natural. Our fragrance oils have been designed to be as simple, clean, and natural as possible while still delivering the best fragrance throw and the widest range of scent notes. Compounds not directly derived from nature are either chemically identical to natural compounds, artificially created, or slightly modified, usually to produce a slightly stronger scent. Sometimes, fragrances not found in nature are used to provide the distinctive scent required for certain more artificial-looking perfumes. This is the same as with all fragrance oils on the market today.

These data sheets list all the health and safety risks associated with perfume ingredients. The safety data sheet describes the hazards presented by the perfume chemical and provides information on handling, storage, and emergency measures in case of an accident. The CLP (Classification, Labelling and Packaging) regulatory sheet lists the icons to be added to perfume packaging in accordance with EU legislation. The IFRA technical data sheet describes the percentage threshold for a fragrance that should be used in various applications.
