Hur man gör: Stearinljus med träveke och SoyaLuna Container Wax

Wooden wick candles create a homely feel with a lugnande crackle sound when lighting. Today we are going to show you our newest wax that has landed at Mysig uggla which is SoyaLuna Container wax. It is specifically made for the home ljus maker, suited to making container candles. It has amazing qualities including zero to low frosting, smooth finish, great hot and cold throw and we recommend using a 6-8% fragrance load.

• 240g Soyaluna Container wax
• 30 cl karen round glass container 
• Limprickar
• 19g Doftolja of your choice (8% fragrance load) (We have used French Vanilla fragrance)
• Vågar för vägning
• Hällkanna
• Termometer
• Sked
• En värmekälla som t.ex. en spishäll
• Bain marie eller dubbelkokare

Metod

1. Mät upp och smält vaxet

First, weigh 240g of Soyaluna vax redo för tillverkning 1 x 30 cl glass candle. Soyaluna is a white, soy blend wax and comes in a pellet form, which makes it easy to melt. Pour the wax into a bain marie or double boiler and gently heat the wax up to a maximum of 85c to ensure it is fully melted. Stir the wax to ensure an even spread of heat and try not to heat the wax above 90c as this could damage the naturligt vax. Du kan hålla ett öga på temperaturen med hjälp av en termometer. 

2. Förbereda behållare

Medan du väntar på att vaxet ska smälta, ren glasbehållaren och varm det upp till cirka 35c. Du kan använda en värmepistol för detta eller lägga glaset i en bricka med varmt vatten för att värma det. Detta kommer att hjälpa till senare när ljuset härdar för att förbättra glasets vidhäftning och hjälpa till att undvika frostning. Det är viktigt att se till att inget vatten kommer in i vaxet eller glaset eftersom det kan påverka ljusets härdning. 

Once heated you can then add the wick in place, we have chosen a wooden wick suited to this container and wax combination. Simply slot 2 Vekar av trä into the metal sustainer and peel the tab from one end of the glue dot and stick to the end, then peel the other side of the dot and place it centrally into the glass. Press down to secure this in place.

3. Väg upp din doftolja eller eteriska olja

Now it’s time to think about fragrance oil. We recommend using a fragrance load of 6-8% with Soyaluna Wax. We will be adding an 8% fragrance load for this candle. This will mean8% of the amount of wax we are using. This works out at 19g of fragrance oil. Measure 19g on a weighing scale to get an accurate measurement. 

4. Kontrollera flampunkten för den doft- eller eteriska olja du valt

Next, check the flash point of your chosen fragrance oil. The flashpoint is the temperature in which the scent will evaporate so it is important to add the oil below this temperature. Jasmin will need to be added below 93.3°C.

5. Blanda in doftoljan i vaxet

Se till att vaxet är helt smält innan du tillsätter några ingredienser. Det ska se ut som klar och jämnt. Häll försiktigt i doftoljan i vaxet och rör om tills det är blandat och jämnt. Doften kommer att smälta in sömlöst i vaxet.

6. Hälla upp vaxet

Häll upp vaxet i en kanna vid ca 65 °C och häll sedan långsamt över det i ditt ljusglas med ca 1 cm mellanrum från toppen. Genom att hälla långsamt skapas mindre luftbubblor i vaxet. Vaxet rinner lätt och det bästa är att det bara behöver hällas 1 gång. 

8. Låt ljuset sätta sig i 24 timmar

Låt ljuset stå på en plan och jämn yta i minst 24 timmar. För bästa resultat rekommenderar vi att du långsamt kylning i rumstemperatur och undvik kalla ytor eller drag. Du kan också använda ett ställ för att uppmuntra kylning från botten av glaset.

9. Trimma veken

Now your candle has cured its time to trim the wick to about 5mm and get ready to fall in love with your homemade candle. As you can see the wax has set with a smooth, krämig finish. Soyaluna offers a great hot and cold scent throw allowing your chosen fragrance to naturally fill the room.
