Nowadays with the right ingredients, most <a href=\"https:\/\/cosyowl.com\/en_ie\/candle-making-supplies\/fragrance-oils-for-candle-making\/all-fragrances\/honey-fragrance-oil\">natural<\/a> hair treatments can be obtained through a fairly simple process, for a finished product that is both effective and pleasant to the senses, truly nothing to envy of their chemically-fueled counterparts.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Hair masks and most organic conditioning treatments tend to be either oil-based, gel-based or butter-based, when applied thoroughly and regularly on the scalp and lengths these products can visibly improve the overall health and appearance of your locks.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>They are most commonly used to treat damaged, dry or dull hair, but if you are one of the lucky few who\u2019s immune to such annoyances you\u2019ve still probably used conditioners or leave-in masks to enhance smoothness and brightness.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Here\u2019s a very simple <a href=\"https:\/\/cosyowl.com\/en_ie\/guides\/a-guide-to-creating-your-own-soap-products\">guide<\/a> to create both an <strong>oil-based treatment<\/strong> and a<strong> butter-based conditioner<\/strong>. By combining the natural properties of Jojoba, <a href=\"https:\/\/cosyowl.com\/en_ie\/fragrance-oils\/coconut\">Coconut<\/a> and Castor oil with your favourite fragrances, you\u2019ll obtain an effective moisturising treatment that promotes flexibility, strength and hair growth as well as preventing common conditions such as dandruff and breakage.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>And for those who prefer a more <a href=\"https:\/\/cosyowl.com\/en_ie\/candle-making-supplies\/fragrance-oils-for-candle-making\/all-fragrances\/french-vanilla-fragrance-oil\">creamy<\/a> texture, we\u2019ll show you how to create a butter treatment by using shea butter as your foundation.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ingredients\u00a0<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/cosyowl.com\/en_ie\/craft-supplies\/lip-balm-making\/lip-balm-base\/refined-coconut-carrier-oil\/?cPath=111_98_105&wmc-currency=EUR\">150ml Coconut Oil<\/a><\/li>\r\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/cosyowl.com\/en_ie\/craft-supplies\/hair-care-supplies\/carrier-oils-for-hair-care\/?wmc-currency=EUR\">50ml Jojoba Oil<\/a><\/li>\r\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/cosyowl.com\/en_ie\/craft-supplies\/hair-care-supplies\/carrier-oils-for-hair-care\/?wmc-currency=EUR\">50ml Castor Oil<\/a><\/li>\r\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/cosyowl.com\/en_ie\/fragrance-oils-for-hair-care\/?wmc-currency=EUR\">50ml Fragrance Oil<\/a> (always refer to the IFRA sheet *section 5* for the maximum fragrance loading for your chosen oil)<\/li>\r\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/cosyowl.com\/en_ie\/craft-supplies\/soap-making-supplies\/body-butters\/organic-refined-shea-butter\/?wmc-currency=EUR\">\u2153 Cup of Shea Butter<\/a><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1490\" src=\"https:\/\/cosyowl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/hair-treatment-2-labels-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"624\" height=\"832\" title=\"\"><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 1 \u2013 Add Ingredients on a Bain-marie container<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>First up, pour 150ml of coconut oil, 50ml <a href=\"https:\/\/cosyowl.com\/en_ie\/craft-supplies\/body-care-supplies\/base-oils-and-butters-for-body-care\/refined-jojoba-carrier-oil\">jojoba oil<\/a> and 50ml castor oil onto your double-boiler, if you don\u2019t have a double-boiler, no worries, simply place a glass bowl onto a pot of boiling water <em>et voila<\/em>, this will make a perfect bain-marie! Please remember to maintain a very gentle heat to avoid evaporation.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>If you are going for a <strong>butter-based conditioner option<\/strong>, first you\u2019ll have to melt the shea butter on your bain-marie, once the butter has melted, let it <a href=\"https:\/\/cosyowl.com\/en_ie\/candle-making-supplies\/glitters\/lake-blue-biodegradable\">cool<\/a> off a little, but not completely, we want the mixture still <a href=\"https:\/\/cosyowl.com\/en_ie\/craft-kits\/candle-making-kits\/soy-wax-mulled-wine-christmas-candle-making-kit\">warm<\/a> for when we add both the carrier oils and the fragrance.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 2 \u2013 Heat the oils, add fragrance and mix<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>To obtain an oil-based treatment<\/strong>, at this point, you will simply have to heat the oils for a couple of minutes until the liquid has a nice and uniform colouration, then let it cool off and add the 50ml of your chosen <a href=\"https:\/\/cosyowl.com\/en_ie\/candle-making-supplies\/fragrance-oils-for-candle-making\/premium-fragrance-oils\/cosy-owl-premium-1-million-type-fragrance-oil\">fragrance oil<\/a> and mix thoroughly. <em>Please note *All of our fragrances have links to an IFRA datasheet and within this sheet, it states the maximum percentage of fragrance that can be applied to products used on the body. (further information at the bottom of this article)<\/em><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>For a <strong>butter-based conditioner<\/strong>, add carrier oils first and simmer, then add the fragrance and mix some more.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 3 \u2013 Decanting, storage and use<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Once cooled, pour into a container and store in the refrigerator, whereas the butter conditioner should cool off at room temperature and allow it to solidify.\u00a0<strong>Directions for use:<\/strong> Make sure that your skin is not too sensitive to any of the active ingredients, by performing a quick patch- test on a small portion of your skin (behind the ear is usually a good spot). You can apply the treatment both before and after washing your hair, remember to massage your scalp and apply thoroughly onto the lengths. Depending on the type of hair, leave it for at least 20 minutes for best effect.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cosyowl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/img_61232381c6879.jpg\" width=\"624\" height=\"499\" alt=\"\" title=\"\"><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>*<em>Section 5 our IFRA datasheet shows the max percentage for use in things like <a href=\"https:\/\/cosyowl.com\/en_ie\/guides\/how-to-make-body-butter-hand-cream\">hand cream<\/a> and shampoo etc, so this is the section to be aware of when creating products for your skin. <\/em><br \/><br \/><em>It is usually fairly high but differs for each fragrance, so we always advise you to check our datasheet. <\/em><br \/><br \/>In this specific <a href=\"https:\/\/cosyowl.com\/en_ie\/guides\/easter-candle-basket-recipe\">recipe<\/a>, there could be a stated (roughly) 25% fragrance load by calculations \u2013 200mml of oils and 50ml of fragrance (if no shea butter is used). <br \/><br \/>This is fine for some <a href=\"https:\/\/cosyowl.com\/en_ie\/guides\/2023-spring-fragrance-oil-trends\">fragrance oils<\/a> but many it is not \u2013 Aqua Di Gio for instance has a max of 20%, Alien has a 10% limit.
