{"id":19468,"date":"2019-07-26T12:48:59","date_gmt":"2019-07-26T11:48:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cosyowl.com\/guides\/?p=264"},"modified":"2025-01-14T11:33:24","modified_gmt":"2025-01-14T11:33:24","slug":"clp-regulations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cosyowl.com\/en_ie\/guides\/clp-regulations","title":{"rendered":"CLP Regulations"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What needs to be included on the Label<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>When <a href=\"https:\/\/cosyowl.com\/en_ie\/guides\/2023-spring-fragrance-oil-trends\">fragrance oils<\/a> are used at different percentage loads, they will trigger different information that is required to be present on your CLP labels. Only if triggered, it must contain all or some of the below:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li><strong>Supplier Identification<\/strong> \u2013 This is always needed and must include the business name, contact number and your registered business address.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li><strong>Product Identifier<\/strong> \u2013 This is also always needed and is the name of your product. This will enable you and the <a href=\"https:\/\/cosyowl.com\/en_ie\/communication-preferences\">customer<\/a> to easily identify it (normally based around the scent of the <a href=\"https:\/\/cosyowl.com\/en_ie\/guides\/a-summers-beach-gel-votive-candle\">candle<\/a>).<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li><strong>EH208 Information (Ingredients)<\/strong> \u2013 This is the allergen information which may trigger your H and in turn the P phrases that need to be supplied. Unless it is necessary to do so regulations state that no more than four chemicals need to be included on the label, only including additional chemicals if the <a href=\"https:\/\/cosyowl.com\/en_ie\/candle-making-supplies\/fragrance-oils-for-candle-making\/premium-fragrance-oils\/cosy-owl-premium-1-million-type-fragrance-oil\">fragrance oil<\/a> triggers more severe hazards.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li><strong>Hazard (H) Phrases<\/strong> \u2013 These are triggered by the ingredients of the fragrance oil when they reach a set percentage, therefore you will find a H phrase present at a 10% load but not at a 5% because less is present. H phrases are used to inform the end user of any hazards present within the product.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li><strong>Precautionary (P) Phrases <\/strong>\u2013 Each H phrase will correlate to a P phrase; the P phrase is for the customer and to advise how to minimise any risks that can be caused by the hazards present.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li><strong>Hazard Pictograms <\/strong>\u2013 Each pictogram is a warning picture associated to a H phrase. Not all H phrases will trigger a pictogram, again it is based on the percentage of the chemical present that requires the H phrase. The pictograms <strong>must <\/strong>be a diamond shape and include a black picture on a white <a href=\"https:\/\/cosyowl.com\/en_ie\/about\">background<\/a> with a red frame around it, it must be a minimum of 1 cm squared in size. There are <a href=\"https:\/\/cosyowl.com\/en_ie\/guides\/clp-labelling-what-you-need-to-know\/?wmc-currency=EUR\">9 CLP Pictograms<\/a> please follow the link to get more in depth information on these.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li><strong>Signal Word<\/strong> \u2013 This will either be \u2018Warning\u2019 or \u2018Danger\u2019 and the one you use depends on what H phrases are present. You may not need a signal word if it is not triggered.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>CLP Label examples<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Sometimes, seeing is more beneficial then reading so please find 2 examples below for different fragrances at a 10% load. Both have been broken down to show each section and both reflect different levels of required information.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Minimal CLP information triggered<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-265\" src=\"https:\/\/cosyowl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/min-CLP-1024x309.png\" alt=\"\" title=\"\"><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>All CLP information triggered<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-266\" src=\"https:\/\/cosyowl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/MAX-CLP-1024x429.png\" alt=\"\" title=\"\"><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The size of the label is also crucial, for products of 125 ml or larger need to measure a minimum of 52 x 74 mm in size. If your product is smaller than 125 ml, contrary to popular belief, you do still require a CLP label, however there are different requirements. You can in fact omit either the P and\/or H phrases or the pictograms that would normally be required under the CLP.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Candle Safety Information<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Burn candles out of the reach of children and pets<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone
